The Joy

Well, folks, I just got back from a trip to Costco that took nearly 3 hours! Big city living must be worth it because that includes travel time (20 mins or so each way). We didn't even spend that much time shopping for food. First off, change Avi's poopy pants. Check out books: educational, fiction and children's. Then, change Taylor's poopy pants. Shop for food. Stand in horrendous cafeteria line for reasonably-priced lunch items (did that old lady SERIOUSLY just butt in front of me??). Stand with baby in one arm, tray of food in the other while waiting for a table to clear. (At least Shawn took Taylor to the bathroom with him!) Feed adults and child. Stand in line again for the oh-so-worth it caramel sundae. Snarf said sundae with husband and son. Shawn gave Avi a "mystery taste" against my better judgement (why does no one listen to me about this??) and Avi was begging for more all during dessert! Seriously, every time Shawn directed a mouthful up to his face, Avi made plaintive noises as she tracked it, maw agape! Far be it from her father to deny her. Poor sugar-ified 6-month-old!! There's no hope!

Speaking of 6-months-old, it is now time to start my baby on solids. She's been having rice cereal in the evenings, some of it even goes down. Now it's time to start her on veggies, etc. Let the mess begin, er, continue. Take heart, the benefits of weaning are soon at hand!

I can't believe how big Avi's getting. She can sit up, laughs alot more than before, plays with her feet, spits everywhere and chews on everything. It's so much nicer having a baby you know than a fetus you don't.

Taylor's been singing along with his movies. It's so adorable to hear his tone-deaf sounding "I can go the distance!" while he's watching Hercules (see footage below). He's also acting along with the characters: patting my shoulder, throwing his arms up in the air, etc. Not to mention our early morning favorite, screams with the characters. (Sometimes we put him in front of a movie so we can get a little more sleep... Survival tactic!)

Taylor's counting efforts continue to improve. He currently counts to six: one, two, three, eight, nine, six!
