While I was fetching milk for Shawn's crepes, Shawn had to change Avi's diaper. Taylor notified him that he had to go to the bathroom so Daddy left Avi on the change table to assist him. Predictably, Avi rolled right off. This is the part in the telling of the story that I became livid. There's a buckle on the change pad for a reason! What part of "a child should never be left unattended" do you not understand? Apparently, Avi landed like a cat: on all fours. She cried from fright rather than pain. She seemed to be unharmed! Since Taylor was ditched to care for baby, his resulting accident, the first since being potty-trained, was not his fault. During this fiasco, Shawn's mother and her friend arrived at the front door soaked from the downpour that had interrupted her bike ride. Chaos is not Shawn's specialty but he seemed to handle it adequately enough.
I must point out that Shawn did something similar when home with baby Taylor. He had left the basement door open after running downstairs and, lo and behold, Taylor followed. Dude wasn't sure how to react to the fall but Shawn pasted a smile on his face since Taylor typically followed suit. Worked like a charm.
That means something like this won't happen again until child #3, right?
